The details
The Turbo 500 Stainless Steel Pro Kit pairs the Create+ reflux column with the Filter Pro, so the kit covers both halves of making clean spirit: distilling it, then polishing it. The reflux column separates impurities during the run and delivers up to 93% ABV; the Filter Pro then takes the finished spirit through 500g of activated carbon for the final smoothness.
The boiler is not included; the kit needs the Still Spirits 25L boiler, sold separately.
Hamish's verdict: this is the setup if you want to take things a step further than basic distilling. The reflux system gives you clean spirit, and the Filter Pro lets you fine-tune the finish. A solid choice if you are chasing smoother results straight out of the system.
Which T500 system? Building piece by piece: start with the Create+ Boiler 25L and Pro Column & Condenser. Complete reflux system: the Create+ T500 Pro Distilling System. Smoother finish: this kit. The highest level of finish: the Turbo 500 Copper Pro Kit with Filter Pro.
A note on the law: in Australia you need a licence from the ATO to distil spirits, including at home. Stills of 5L or under may be used without a licence for water purification or essential oil extraction. In New Zealand a still of up to 25L may be used at home to produce spirit for personal consumption.

Quick answers
Questions about this product, shipping and orders. See the FAQ page for more topics.
Monday to Friday, 9-4pm AEST.We normally get back to you within a day—often sooner.
Will the T500 fit the boiler I already have?
It fits the Still Spirits Create+ boiler and the Grainfather G30, G40 and G70. Running something else? Ask us before you buy and we'll confirm it.
How much spirit does one run make?
The Create+ stainless column produces spirit at up to 93% ABV. One wash gives you everything for your first 8 litres of finished spirit once diluted and polished through the included Filter Pro.
Is the cooling water hard to manage?
It takes a little practice to dial in. The water flow regulator holds the temperature for you; it's the add-on owners say they wish they'd bought on day one.
Can it make whisky, gin or rum, or just neutral spirit?
In reflux mode the T500 makes a clean neutral spirit, perfect for essences and gin botanicals. For pot-distilled whisky and rum character, the alembic pot top is the next step; it comes bundled in the Ultimate kit.
Do carbon fines end up in the spirit?
A few can show up on the first pour. Filter Pro papers catch them.
Is it legal to own a still in Australia?
Yes, stills are legal to buy and own. Distilling alcohol requires an excise manufacturer licence from the ATO; distilling water or essential oils needs no licence.
