Which Mangrove Jack's yeast should I use for an IPA?
M44 US West Coast is the usual pick for hop-forward pale ales and IPAs. It ferments clean and leaves the hops in front rather than adding fruity character of its own. If you want the yeast to add to the hop impression instead, M66 Hop Head Ale is the alternative.
Can I brew Mangrove Jack's kits through an Australian summer?
Yes, but the strain matters more than the kit. M12 Kveik is a Norwegian farmhouse yeast. Kveik strains ferment at 25 to 42 degrees and are ideal for Australian summer brewing, producing clean beer where other yeasts fail. M54 California Lager is the other option, giving lager character at ale temperatures without needing a fridge.
Is it worth buying yeast separately instead of using the sachet under the kit lid?
Yes. The sachet taped under the lid is chosen for shelf life rather than flavour, and it is the same generic strain regardless of the style in the tin. Swapping it for a matched M-series strain is the cheapest single improvement you can make to a kit beer. Do not throw the sachet out though. It makes excellent pizza dough.
What is the difference between the Craft Series and the International Series?
The Craft Series is mostly ciders in 2.4kg pouches, including Apple, Pear, Mixed Berry and several fruit blends, plus a gluten free pale ale. The International Series is beer, seven 1.7kg extract kits built to recognisable styles such as Czech Pilsener, Irish Stout and Bavarian Wheat.
Which Mangrove Jack's product is best for a first-time brewer?
A Craft Series cider. Cider ferments quickly, needs no hop or malt knowledge, and is forgiving of small mistakes in temperature and timing. If you want beer first, choose an International Series kit in a style you already drink and buy the matching yeast separately.
How long will my order take to arrive?
Metro: usually a few business days. Regional: often a bit longer. You get tracking when it leaves the warehouse.
