What is the difference between a Black Rock extract kit and a Crafted fresh wort kit?
An extract kit is a 1.7kg tin of hopped concentrate that you dilute and ferment. A Crafted fresh wort kit is 23 litres of finished wort made from real grain and never concentrated, so you pitch yeast straight into it. The Crafted range sits much closer to all grain brewing because the sugars were never cooked down and rebuilt.
Which Black Rock kit should I brew first?
Pick the style you already drink rather than the one that sounds most interesting. Lager and NZ Draught suit traditional session beers, Pale Ale and XPA cover the hop-forward end, and Miners Stout or Oatmeal Stout are the dark options. Buy a matched yeast separately rather than using the sachet under the lid.
What is Black Rock liquid malt extract used for?
It is unhopped base material rather than a recipe, available in Light and Dark 1.7kg tins. Use it to lift the gravity of a kit, build a partial mash, add body to a stout, or make a yeast starter. Light is the neutral workhorse and Dark adds colour and deeper malt character to porters, stouts and brown ales.
Are Black Rock kits made in Australia?
No. Black Rock is made in New Zealand from New Zealand malt. Australian Home Brewing has stocked the range for decades and ships it Australia-wide from our Melbourne store.
How long will my order take to arrive?
Metro: usually a few business days. Regional: often a bit longer. You get tracking when it leaves the warehouse.
What is your returns policy?
If something isn't right, tell us. We'll sort returns or replacements under Australian Consumer Law and our written policy. No drama.
