Carbon Filters

Activated carbon traps the unwanted flavours and fermentation by-products left in freshly distilled spirit. The result is a cleaner, more neutral base, which matters most when it is going to carry a delicate essence like vodka or gin.

Dilute it to between 40% and 50% ABV first. That is the strength the EZ Carbon Filter and the Filter Pro are designed for, and it gives the carbon time to work as the spirit drips through.

No. Use one cartridge per run or batch and replace it for the next, and the same goes for the loose activated carbon granules in a Filter Pro. Spent carbon has already done its trapping and will not clean another batch properly. Keep spare cartridges and carbon sealed so they do not absorb moisture.

Air Still cartridges fit the Air Still Carbon Filter and Collector set, one per run. The EZ Carbon Filter System is an 11 litre gravity filter that suits the Turbo 500. The Filter Pro passes 8 litres at a time through 500g of loose carbon at about a litre an hour, and it comes bundled in the Pro kits.
