Quick answers
Questions about this product, shipping and orders. See the FAQ page for more topics.
Monday to Friday, 9-4pm AEST.We normally get back to you within a day—often sooner.
Do they take standard corks?
Yes. They have a standard cork-finish neck and suit the 44 x 22mm premium corks and either a hand-held two lever corker or a pedestal corker.
What does punted mean?
The base has a dimple pushed up into the bottle. It strengthens the base, helps the bottle stand steady, and collects any sediment in a ring so it stays out of the glass when you pour.
Why antique green rather than clear?
Green glass cuts the light that ages wine and dulls its flavour. It is the traditional choice for red wine and for any wine you plan to keep, and these bottles also suit white wine.
Are they strong enough to store and cellar?
Yes. They are heavy duty new bottles, so there are no chips or hairline cracks, and they are made to lie down in a rack for years.
How many do I need?
A 23 litre batch fills about 30 bottles, so three cartons cover a full batch. Reusing clean commercial wine bottles is fine too, as long as they take a cork.
What is the note about shipping?
A carton of glass is heavy, and freight to some remote locations can cost more than the bottles are worth. If that happens with your order we will contact you and offer a refund or another option before anything is sent.
