The details
The Air Still Pro Head Unit turns a standard Air Still into a dual-mode distillery. Fitted in place of the original head, it adds reflux mode for clean neutral spirit at up to 90% ABV, keeps a pot still mode for character-driven spirit at up to 80%, and brings the botanical basket for gin.
It is self-cooling, so there is still no water to plumb in, and the first 30ml of each run, the foreshots, is collected automatically in a dedicated glass vial rather than ending up in your spirit. Swapping between modes is a matter of changing the distillation tip with the included spanner.
A note on the law: in Australia you need a licence from the ATO to distil spirits, including at home. Stills of 5L or under may be used without a licence for water purification or essential oil extraction. In New Zealand a still of up to 25L may be used at home to produce spirit for personal consumption.

Will it fit my current Air Still?
Yes. It is made to fit the original Still Spirits Air Still and Air Still Pro boilers. Fitting it to other boilers may void the warranty.
Does it need water cooling?
No. The condenser cools itself with an internal fan, so there is no plumbing and no water hookup.
What can I make with it?
Reflux mode produces a clean neutral base for vodka, gin or essence flavoured spirits. Pot still mode carries more character for whisky and rum style runs. It also handles hydrosols and botanical distillates.
How does the foreshots collection work?
The head unit diverts the first 30ml of each run into a dedicated glass vial. That first fraction can carry harsh tasting compounds, so catching it automatically keeps the finished spirit clean.
