Soda Chargers CO2 8gm x 10

A pack of ten 8g food grade CO2 bulbs. These are the disposable chargers used in soda siphons and in bulb fed pressure barrel caps, for carbonating a drink or putting pressure back into a barrel that has gone flat.

Best suited to

• Soda siphons and single serve sparkling water makers
• Re-pressurising a pressure barrel through a bulb fed cap
• Pushing the last few litres out of a barrel that has lost its head of gas
• Carbonating one bottle at a time rather than a whole keg

What these will not fit

These are not SodaStream refills. Australian SodaStream machines run a refillable screw in cylinder on a proprietary thread, and no 8g bulb fits one

They are also not the right gas for running a kegerator or a full keg setup. A 19L keg on tap wants a regulator on a 2.6kg or 6kg bottle, which works out far cheaper per pour than bulbs. We do gas swaps on both bottle sizes. Bulbs are for portable and single serve jobs, or for a barrel you only need to top up now and then.

Mini gas regulators for kegs are commonly threaded for 16g bulbs rather than 8g. Check what size your regulator takes before you order.

Practical notes

Fit one bulb at a time and release it in one go. Backing a bulb off half way is how you end up venting most of the gas past the seal.

The bulb gets genuinely cold as it discharges, cold enough to be uncomfortable to hold. That is normal, it is the gas expanding.

Check the seal or washer in your cap before you charge. A perished washer will empty a bulb in seconds and it is the single most common reason people think they have been sold a dud pack.

Store them somewhere cool and out of the sun. They are pressurised, so keep them out of a hot car and off the boot shelf over summer.
