Session strength with absolutely no compromise on hop flavour — that’s the brief this kit delivers on. The Hop Head Session Ale pairs high-impact Eclipse hop pellets with Mangrove Jack’s M66 Hophead Ale Yeast, a strain specifically selected to maximise hop aroma and produce a citrus-forward, hop-expressive result at lower ABV. The Eclipse hops bring mandarin, zesty citrus and fresh fruity notes, while the yeast amplifies and extends them through fermentation. At 4.2–4.5% ABV, it’s a beer you can genuinely session — crisp, clean, lingering — without ever feeling like you’re drinking something watered down.

faq'S
How is this different from the Critters Pale Ale or Galaxy Pale Ale?
The main difference is in the hop variety and yeast selection. This kit uses Eclipse hops (mandarin, citrus) with the M66 Hophead yeast for a cleaner, drier hop expression. The Galaxy and Critters kits use different hop varieties with a standard ale yeast, producing a different flavour profile — more tropical and fruity vs. the crisp citrus character here.
How much beer does this kit make?
This kit produces approximately 21 litres — enough for around 28 x 750ml longnecks or 55 x 330ml stubbies.
Is this kit suitable for someone new to home brewing?
Yes — this is a standard malt extract kit with a simple, straightforward brew day. Someone new to home brewing will find it very achievable.
How long until I can drink it?
Around 10–14 days in the fermenter, then 1–2 weeks in the bottle. Like all hop-forward beers, this one is best enjoyed fresh — the citrus and mandarin aroma is at its most vivid in the weeks immediately after carbonation.
