The details
Still Spirits Classic 6 Turbo Yeast. The clean, reliable turbo yeast behind a great neutral spirit. This is the single sachet - pitch one per 25L wash.
Classic 6 Turbo Yeast - the all-rounder
Classic 6 is reliably the best all-rounder in the Still Spirits turbo yeast stable. It is formulated to ferment 6kg of sugar with fewer by-products, so what comes off your still tastes cleaner with less work on the back end.
- Works between 15C and 30C air temperature
- Ferments out in roughly 4 to 5 days at 30C, up to 9 to 10 days at 15C
- Handles the extra heat a wash generates at peak fermentation, so you avoid stuck ferments
- Low maintenance from pitch to finish
What you add
Each batch takes 6kg of sugar or Turbo Sugar, or 7kg of dextrose. Sugar is sold separately.
How to use it (start to still)
- Dissolve your sugar in the fermenter and top to 25L (6kg sugar or Turbo Sugar, or 7kg dextrose).
- Pitch one sachet of Classic 6 yeast.
- Ferment at 15C to 30C. Expect 4 to 5 days at 30C, up to 9 to 10 days at 15C.
- Rack the clear wash off the sediment, then distil.
Yield you can count on
Still Spirits rated output, run through a Turbo 500:
- 6kg Turbo Sugar - approx. 3.6L @ 93% ABV per batch
- 7kg dextrose - approx. 3.8L @ 93% ABV per batch
Storage and shelf life
Store cool and dry. Each sachet carries a minimum of 6 months from purchase, and keeps for around a year past the printed date if you refrigerate it. Buying a multipack and storing it cold is the easy way to always have a batch ready to go.

Turbo yeast vs regular yeast - what is the difference?
Turbo yeasts are built for distilling. They tolerate much higher alcohol, come with their own nutrients, ferment faster and across a wider temperature range, and produce fewer by-products than bread or wine yeast. That is what makes a cleaner wash for the still.
How much yeast per wash?
One sachet of Classic 6 per 25L wash (6kg sugar). If your pack includes Carbon and Clear, use one sachet of each per wash too.
How long before it is ready?
You will usually see activity within 24 hours. It ferments out in about 4 to 5 days at 30C, or 9 to 10 days at 15C.
Classic 6 or Classic 8 - which one?
Classic 6 ferments a 6kg wash and is the cleaner all-rounder, best when finish quality matters most. Classic 8 ferments up to an 8kg wash for more spirit per batch, with a little more to clean up afterwards. Chasing a clean neutral, choose Classic 6.
Do I still need to carbon filter after distilling?
Turbo Carbon cleans the wash and Turbo Clear removes the yeast before the boil, which gets you a long way. A post-distillation polish (Filter Pro or EZ Filter) is still the finishing step for the smoothest result.
