Are they suitable for beer, cider and kombucha?
Yes. The swing top seal holds pressure for all three. They are the bottle we recommend for a kombucha second ferment and for anyone who does not want to buy a capper.
What makes them heavy duty?
Each bottle weighs over 500 grams in thick European-style amber glass. They are made for a lifetime of bottling, not the thin swing tops sold for cordial.
Why amber?
Amber glass blocks the light that makes beer taste off. Clear bottles don't protect the drink.
Can I replace the seals?
Yes. The silicone seals wear over years of use and can be replaced. We sell replacement silicone seals for flip top bottles in a pack of 60.
Is it better than reusing second-hand bottles?
Reused pry-off bottles work well for beer if they are good quality. Flip tops give you a matched set that needs no caps or capper and reseals a half-finished bottle, which is handy for ciders and kombucha.
What should I know about shipping?
A carton weighs over 6 kilos, so freight to some remote and regional areas costs more than the standard rate. We will quote before sending if that applies to your order.
