Delivers a rich, smooth profile with notes of vanilla, caramel, and toasted oak, balanced by a hint of spice. Styled after traditional Kentucky straight bourbon, it reflects the signature sweetness and full-bodied character derived from a high corn mash bill and charred oak ageing. This essence is inspired by well-known bourbons such as Jim Beam and Maker’s Mark.
Bourbon originated in Kentucky in the late 18th century, when settlers used the region’s limestone-filtered water and abundant corn to refine whiskey production. By the 19th century, bourbon had become a distinct American spirit, with strict regulations later defining its production process and ageing requirements.

Shake well and add contents to 2.25 L (76 US fl oz) of 40% ABV neutral spirit or vodka. Makes three 750 ml (25 US fl oz) bottles.

What does the Kentucky Bourbon essence taste like?
Rich and smooth, with vanilla, caramel and toasted oak and a hint of spice. It is styled after a traditional Kentucky straight bourbon; the page names Jim Beam and Maker's Mark as the bottles it is inspired by.
How much does one bottle make?
One 50 ml bottle flavours 2.25 litres of 40% ABV spirit, which fills three 750 ml bottles. Shake well, add to the spirit, and it is ready to drink.
Can I make it with bought vodka?
Yes. Any neutral spirit or bought vodka at 40% ABV. If you make your own from a turbo wash, filter it through Turbo Carbon first.
Should I put it on oak?
You do not have to. The essence carries the colour and the oak notes. If you want more barrel character, add toasted and seasoned American oak chips to the bottle and taste it weekly; colour and flavour show in about 7 to 10 days.
Kentucky Bourbon or Classic American Bourbon: which one?
The Kentucky Bourbon is the sweeter, rounder of the two. The Classic American Bourbon (the twin-sachet pack) is the drier, smokier style and is the pick for Jim Beam drinkers.
