What’s the difference between a Pacific Ale and a standard Pale Ale?

A Pacific Ale is typically hazier, lighter in colour and more heavily oriented towards tropical and fruity hop aroma than a standard pale ale. The style is defined by the Australian-grown hops that make it possible ie varieties like Galaxy and Ella, which produce an intensity of tropical fruit character that you simply can’t replicate with European or American hops. The result is a softer, more aromatic, less bitter beer than a traditional pale ale.

This kit produces 21 litres — enough for approximately 28 × 750ml longnecks or 55 × 330ml stubbies.

What equipment do I need?

A fermenter with lid and airlock, a no-rinse sanitiser, a thermometer, a hydrometer, and bottles or a keg. Our starter kits have everything bundled together if you’re starting from scratch.

How long until it’s ready?

Around 10–14 days in the fermenter, then 1–2 weeks in the bottle for carbonation. Pacific Ales are best enjoyed fresh  the hop character is at its most vivid in the first few weeks after bottling.
