How to Brew Beer for Beginners: Step-by-Step

This is how to brew your first beer like a cascade ale in just about 30 minutes

Step 1: Warm the Malt Can -Place your malt can in hot water to soften the syrup.

Step 2: Start Your Boil- Boil 3 litres of water and add your hops (Cascade is a great beginner choice). Let it boil briefly and steep for flavour.

Step 3: Pour Into Fermenter- Pour warmed malt and your boiled hop mix into the sanitized fermenter. Add 3 litres of warm water.

Step 4: Add Cold Water-Top it up to 21 litres with cool water to reach fermentation volume.

Step 5: Pitch Your Yeast – close the lid tightly, add the air lock, & officially let fermentation begin.

Trust Your Little Beast (yeast !! )

Here's where brewing gets magical. The yeast is doing all the work now.

You're not steering this ship. You just launched it and cracked the champagne on the bow. Your yeast knows what to do.

Within days, you'll hear that unique bubbling sound through the airlock. Carbon dioxide escaping as fermentation creates pressure.

No bubbles? Don't panic, you’re not alone in this worry, at AHB it’s our most frequently asked question. Almost always, your beer is working fine.

The yeast is your best friend in brewing. It's a little beast that never stops until every bit of sugar is complete. It doesn't complain, gets the job done!

You can trust it 100%.

That First Sip

When your first batch is ready, you'll taste it thinking "I hope this is good."

Almost always, you'll be greeted with a pleasant surprise. "This actually tastes like beer. This is awesome."

If you’re wondering how to start homebrewing beer and whether it’s worth the effort—just remember the reward: a cold beer that you made yourself and can share with your mates.
