Medium toast bourbon barrel oak chips bring an aromatic sweetness and complex array of other flavoursome compounds, including, vanilla, caramel, brown sugar and toasty notes with a nice mouthfeel.

The charring process caramelizes the wood sugars in the oak and when soaked on spirits provides rich colour, smooth texture, and sweet notes within 10 days. The extra surface area of the chips intensives the flavour and colour and reduces the soaking time.

How to use them

There are many ways to use AHB Bourbon Chips to take your spirit making to the next level.  Soak your filtered distilled spirit in glass for up to 10 days. You can then blend your own recipes combining with your favourite spirit essence or enjoy as is.

  • Recommended usage: 50-100 grams to 1 to 2 litres of spirit
  • Soak Time: 10 days or more
  • Usage: Bourbons, Whiskey, Rum
  • Colour: rich deep golden – the longer the soak the deeper the colour
  • Always soak spirit in glass not plastic

Kentucky Bourbon Recipe

A great match for these Chips is Still Spirits Top Shelf Kentucky Bourbon. Mix one bottle of Top Shelf Kentucky Bourbon with 2.25lt of filtered Spirit at 40%. Add 50 - 75g of Kentucky Chips and soak in glass for 2 to 5 weeks.   

Optional Extra: To add extra smoothness and body to the bourbon use about 10 ml  of Glycerine
