Gather your mates, fire up the BBQ, and crack open a Hazy Pacific Session Ale. This brew brings the bold, juicy flavours of citrus and tropical fruit, all wrapped up in a light golden haze.

Crafted from a blend of barley and wheat malts and finished with dry-hopping of the renowned Tasmanian-grown Galaxy hops. With a lower alcohol strength, it’s perfect for keeping the good times rolling under the Aussie sun. Smooth, refreshing, and bursting with flavour—it’s the lighter brew that still delivers big. Cheers to that!

Why this mid-strength session ale works so well.

The challenge with mid-strength beer is keeping the flavour alive at lower ABV. This kit solves that problem by using Galaxy — one of the most aromatic hops grown anywhere in the world — as a dry-hop addition, which means the tropical character is layered in after fermentation when it has the most impact. Combined with the softness of the wheat malt base, the result is a beer that tastes full and satisfying despite the modest alcohol level.

What is a mid-strength beer?

In Australia, mid-strength beer is generally defined as beer between 2.5% and 3.5% ABV, though colloquially the term is used for anything noticeably below full-strength (4.5–5%). This kit produces a hazy Pacific ale in the 3.5–3.8% range — light enough for extended sessions but full enough in flavour to feel satisfying.

Why is this beer hazy?

The haze comes from the wheat malt in the grain bill, which contains proteins that scatter light and give the beer its soft, golden-orange glow. This is completely intentional and is a hallmark of the Pacific ale style. You don’t want to filter it out — the haze carries flavour and body.

Why are Galaxy hops dry-hopped rather than added in the boil?

Dry-hopping — adding hops after fermentation — preserves the delicate tropical and citrus aromas that would be driven off by heat in the boil. For a beer with this much hop character at low ABV, dry-hopping is the technique that keeps the aroma fresh and vivid right up to when you pour it.

How much beer does this kit make?

This kit produces approximately 21 litres — enough for around 28 x 750ml longnecks or 55 x 330ml stubbies.

Is this kit suitable for someone new to home brewing?

Yes — this is a malt extract kit with a straightforward brew day. The dry-hop step is simple and the instructions walk you through it clearly. Someone new to home brewing will find this very achievable.
